Auch wenn ich vermutlich der Einzige bin,
der das so sieht, ist "Cockiness" neben
"Where Have You Been" und "We Found Love"
für mich das Albumhighlight.

I can imagine the Aus-chart community despising this song :P, this one's annoying, has parts that make me cringe (you know which ones) and parts I find kind of badass.
Along with Rockstar and S&M before, this seems to be the song that is equal measure of rubbish and good ideas, which makes it hard to decide whether it's good or not, hmmm

Why did I bother? No appeal to this at all, just a bizarre attempt at regurgitating her apparent sexual addiction. A pathetic effort, it's lacking of pretty much everything that a song should have in a basic context. If this becomes a single, it will make me a saaad puppy. |

Earlier this year, Beyonce released the song "Run The World (Girls)", which was panned by many, for obvious reasons. I myself completely understood where people were coming from and had to agree. But the added part that pushed it across the line was that it had the audacity to sample an annoying and repetitive song that triple j would NOT stop playing a couple years ago. This pushed it over the line for me and it was unlistenable. That was only temporary however, as further listens managed to highlight key sections of the song that were tolerable. These sections expanded and the song finally became listenable.
I commence with that because upon hearing this, many parallels are immediately evident. This however, fails against "Run the World (Girls)" for a number of reasons. The main one that sticks out to me is the fact that the sample runs all the way through the song. I doubt many can empathise with me, but it is a horribly annoying song to begin with, and hearing it resurface disappoints me greatly. I could go on about the other things wrong with this song, but I suspect someone else will cover that for me :P In short, this is bad and I hope it doesn't get further exposure as a single as I would be very disappointed in myself if it managed to grow on me. |

Ein gewagter Schritt - interessant umgesetzt aber leicht zu wirr. Irgendwie bin auch fasziniert von dem wirbeligen Stück.
Find`s schon gut, wenn Künstler(innen) mal aus dem Rahmen fallen und eine andere Seite präsentieren, die nicht so gewohnt ist.

War für mich bisher "nur" ein Albumsong zum nebenbei mal hören. Aber seit ihrem Auftritt beim Hackney Festival geht mir der Song nicht mehr aus den Ohren. Da merkt man das manche Songs erst als Gesamtpacket funktionieren und das besteht hier wirklich zu einem Großteil aus Rihannas Art den Song zu interpretieren. Sehr sexy und schmutzig, halt eine kleine cockiness. ^^
